Spring Home Maintenance Tips
- Lubricate garage door springs, tracks, and wheels.
- Check and clean faucet/shower head aerators- replace if necessary.
- Drain Water from water heater to remove sediment.
- Service garbage disposal by grinding a few ice cubes.
- Check basement/crawl space for dampness after the next rainstorm or after thaw.
- Test smoke/carbon monoxide detectors.
- Tune up lawnmower and trimmer.
- Check attic for exterior gaps, pests, and moisture.
- Trim limbs away from roof and siding before leaves grow back.
- Check vents, louvers, and chimneys for bird nests and squirrels.
- Clean debris from gutter and downspouts- check for water damage.
- Clean sump pump and check drainage speed.
- Replace or clean furnace filter.
- Check driveways, patios and other hardscapes for cracks. Fill cracks and reseal as needed.
- Check all decks, patios, porches, stairs and railings for loose members and deteriorations.
- Inspect wood surfaces for weathering and repaint/reseal if necessary.
- Test sprinkler system. Leaks in pipes and connections will affect your water bill.
- Clean dishwasher filter. Clean dishwasher by placing a cup in vinegar in the top raclk and running a cycle.
